Technical Tips and Advice

1) This web site requires a relatively current Web browser. Any version 3.0 or greater of Netscape, Internet Explorer, or America On Line should work. Unix machines, WebTV boxes, and other Web browsing devices should work, however, only devices that support QuickTime 4.0 software (or later) will be able to access videos and most sound clips.

2) You MUST have QuickTime 4.0 or later installed on your computer for the video clips and most audio clips to work properly. You can download the latest version of QuickTime 4.0 (currently for Windows or Macintosh) at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime.

One of the features of QuickTime 4.0 is the ability for you to setup what speed of Internet connection you have. Be sure you've done this setup for your computer and connection speed. The higher speed internet connection you have, the better video quality will be. If you set this up incorrectly, you will get poor video quality.

3) Always startup this website by pointing your browser to /evangeline/. Over time, the locations of some of these pages may change, but the main page will always be at the URL address www.evangeline.org.

4) System requirements:

Macintosh OS-based systems are: 68020, 68030, 68040 or PowerPC processor; at least 8MB (32 recommended) of RAM recommended for 68020, 68030 or 68040 processor-based systems and at least 16MB (32 recommended) of RAM recommended for PowerPC processor-based systems; and MAC OS 7.1 or later. Power PC processor required for streaming video or audio.

Windows-based systems are: Intel or compatible processor or any MPC2-compliant PC with minimum 66-MHz 486 (Pentium recommended) processor; at least 16MB (32 recommended) of RAM; Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 system software; Sound Blaster or compatible sound card and speakers; and DirectX version 3.0 or later recommended. Pentium processor required for streaming video or audio.

5) We really can't offer much technical support, since no one is getting paid to run this project. However, if you need some help, you can email Gary Dauphin at . Please do not try to call or write me, I do not have the time to handle these forms of communication. Please do not expect a phone call back, or for me to come to your house and fix your problems.

6) If you get blank space where there should be a QuickTime video or sound clip, you should get a "Plug-in" icon indicating that you are missing the correct QuickTime browser plug-in. Click on that icon to download and install QuickTime, or visit the QuickTime web site (www.apple.com/quicktime)to get instructions on how to reset your QuickTime plug-in to work properly in your browser.
