Located on the corner of South Second Street and Park Avenue in Eunice, Louisiana, the "Liberty Theater" has come to symbolize the revitalization of the Cajun spirit in Louisiana.
A 1924 movie house, the theater was brought back by a community restoration project. Today, the theater hosts a live radio show performance (Rendez Vous Des Cajuns) of Cajun musicians and storytellers. Every Saturday night at 6:00, the stage lights up with pride of a renewed Cajun people. The show also features a recipe corner, and "raconteurs" telling humorous Cajun stories.
The theater first opened as a vaudeville theater and silent movie house. Now 67 plus years later, it is still the main source for cultural entertainment in the area.
